Who We Are

The Together Project, led by Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, 19th & 21st Surgeon General of the United States, started in 2025 to help people "choose community,” an essential but overlooked pillar of well-being.

Over the last year, TTP has focused on listening to and learning from practitioners, experts, leaders, and individuals of all ages and backgrounds across the country to answer the question: How do we spark cultural change that helps us center our lives on what is most important—our relationships with others, belonging in community, and a deeper care for our common humanity?

In other words: How do we stay human in the face of so much that is pulling us apart?

Building on research and inspiration gathered during our first year, TTP will launch new efforts to help all of us join and build community.

TTP is a non-profit project primarily funded by the generous support of The Knight Foundation and The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.
